Newborn Actor

So I don't post much, or really ever anymore. There hasn't been any auditions for Madison in quite some time. No worries for me, as she started preschool, is back in dance and is in soccer. On top of that I had another baby. Speaking of which...
Morgan is now a working actor, almost. If I can get her Coogan and Work Permit set-up, she'll be taping a show in November. So it's back to business, sort of speak, for this Momager. Let's see what happens, if anything.

Target...Callback

Knowing that Target callbacks were yesterday (per e-mail), I stopped thinking about getting a call. I decided to take a nap with the monkey on Monday afternoon and when we woke up, I had just missed a call from Mad's agent. Low and behold, we had a callback for today!

Just like last week, Madi and I headed out to Alyson Horn Casting. This time, there were more people, but less of the same ages. What struck me as odd, was all the 2 year old girls, had long brown hair, with bangs and brown eyes...and they were all named Grace. They were strinkingly different then my blonde haired blue eyed girl.

Madi went in for the audition, and I stayed behind the camera. The set-up was the same, but this time a friendly girl played my part. There were also 2 suits sitting, that didn't seem too kid friendly. Madi followed direction well, though at first was a little shy to say her name and came running to me. I went and stood closer to her and she was great. She chased the snack while it dangled in front of her, then on the floor, and finally she pretended to be a kitty and chased it on all fours. She laughed and giggled the whole time.

We finished up, said our thanks, and were on our way. Me being a biased mom, my kid did great. But as I have said before, you never know what they are looking for. However, Madi did have fun playing with all the Graces.

Months Later

I swear this kid is a natural! Around people she's met dozens of times, she can be shy and coy. But put her in front of a camera and something clicks. She's friendly to strangers, she engages the camera and follows direction. Maybe I should just carry a video camera around to get her to do what I want.

Last week I got an iPhone, and proceeded to check e-mail. Low and behold, Madi got an audition for a national Target campaign. I had ample time to prepare, about 5 days. So I got new head shots printed, got her clothes ready, snacks, etc. We drove down to Alyson Horn Casting in LA and was thankful when I realized it's not a cattle call.

We checked in, and waited maybe 5 minutes. The casting agent came out, and Madi went with him, and I followed. First some shots were done saying her name and age. Then the audition. Madi had to chase a snack that I dangled in front of her. And man, did she ham it up, laughing and giggling the whole way through.

Call backs are next week, and the commerical will be shot at the end of January. Once again, we don't hold our breathe. But it was a fun experience!

Dry Summer

We've had no audtions since Johnson & Johnson. A relatively dry and boring summer...that is until today. Last minute audition for a TV comedy. Got the call from our agent, and no sooner then that, I had Madi together, with headshot, and address. We made it in plenty of time!

Went to Sunset/Bronson Studios, Building 10. Madison was more interested in her milk then impressing anyone. But once that milk was in her belly, she put on a show. Pointing out the dogs on the calendar, saying "hi" and "bye," blowing kisses, etc. Such a ham sandwich.

The original casting call was for "9 months old. She is the youngest of the kids. Looking for active, expressive babies who are outgoing and comfortable being held. Babies must be able to crawl and sit up...Seeking twins and triplets only. Submit all ethnicities. " Here I am with a 20 month old, that isn't a twin...you never know what they want. Let's see what happens.
